Hello! My name is William Gonzales! I was born and raised in Houston, TX, though I’ve also lived in Austin, TX and New York City (I also got to spend a summer in Seoul, South Korea for what felt like a year because I was having such a great time). I love media, anthropology, technology, and design, in no particular order, and I’m fascinated by the ways in which we as people communicate and express ourselves.
I have a master’s degree in Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University as well as a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Global Studies and a minor in Cultural Anthropology from The University of Texas at Austin.
My specializations during my schooling included Interaction and Experience in Communications and Media, Latin American Studies, and East Asian Studies, —with further emphases on religious studies, foreign language, diaspora analysis, Central Asian Studies, and coded forms of visual expression (a rather roundabout way of saying “trend analysis”).
I also have experience in the fine arts, and my handwriting has even been used in an instagram reel for a restaurant menu because I refuse to stop writing in the dying art of cursive.
I have advertising and creative agency experience as well as experience working in social media (including content creation) and years working with independent publications as a writer and creative associate. My past sector familiarity is fairly broad—I have done work in the realms of hospitality, retail, nonprofit, and the arts—with further past experience in writing and analysis as it pertains to music, style, and pop culture.
I’m particularly confident in my writing abilities and creative undertakings; take a look around this website to check out some selections of things I’ve done as well as my resume for a greater view of my experience.
